Know what each result means.
We distinguish recognized structure, detected errors, suspected problems and unsupported cases. A green result never proves a file is safe from malware or fully recoverable.
Structural checks are limited
ZIP checks look at directory records and, for supported compression methods, entry CRC32. GZIP uses browser decompression and CRC32 where available; TAR checks header checksums without extracting. PNG checks chunk CRC32, while PDF, MP4, JPEG, GIF, WebP and WAV checks inspect known container markers and some boundaries. These are not complete decoders or forensic certifications.
Local cleanups
JSON cleanup only attempts conservative comment/trailing-comma handling before standard JSON parse. JSONL salvage omits invalid records. PNG and JPEG metadata removal is selective and cannot guarantee anonymity. WAV repair only corrects the RIFF container-size field. CSV normalization checks field counts and pads missing columns; it cannot infer missing values. Text cleaning changes a downloaded copy, not the original.
Performance and browser support
We cap input files at 64 MB to limit tab memory pressure. ZIP decompression requires browser support for DecompressionStream('deflate-raw'); unsupported archive methods and encryption are reported, not silently accepted. SHA-256 and SHA-512 require a secure (HTTPS) context. Large files may strain limited devices.
How to report a problem
Include the tool name, browser version, file type, approximate size and exact error message. Do not send private files unless you explicitly trust the recipient.
